If you need to do something to make yourself feel…
Transcript
If you're struggling with your retirement transition and you need something to do right now to help make you feel better, there is a lot of settled science that shows that doing something nice for someone or something gives us immediate emotional relief. Not everyone, and not always, but often for most of us. So it's a good thing to try. What I did when I was feeling really off is I would help the local animal shelter. And it did help most of the time. Once I did something nice, like I would make a donation or buy some things, like I'd ask them, like, what are you guys looking for? What are you short on? And I'd go buy it. Most of the time, I felt better right away. And, you know, if you're short on cash, you can go and just sit with the animals. You can walk with the animals. You can play with them. It depends on the shelter and what their rules are. And sometimes they have a schedule for that and all that. But do something nice for someone. Or something. If you're looking for some immediate relief, it won't help every time. And it won't help everyone. But the likelihood that it will help you is very high. Thank you.
